Here's a checklist of things to bring on your next jewelry trade or craft show.

Going to craft shows is part of owning a jewelry shop. Aside from being able to network with like-minded people and showcase your products, it's also a fun event for you and your staff. And just like with any trip, you should be able to bring all the things you need.

Today, we created a checklist for you in case you get invited to another craft or trade show this month. We came up with five categories of things to bring and will discuss each of them.

1. Jewelry Display

Of course, you cannot attend a craft show without your jewelry displays! Make sure you bring all of them -- your necklace display, ring, bracelet, and earring displays. And it's best if you use those that can hold multiple pieces. We also recommend using the easel ones because they are space-saving, easy to install and store, and are lightweight.

Aside from that, you also need the following in your booth display:

  • Riser displays for highlighting special items
  • Mirrors so customers can check out the jewelry on them
  • Price tags, of course!
  • Business card holder and business cards
  • Banner or sign carrying your shop's name
  • Table cloth if necessary
  • Decors and props

2. Packaging

Packaging materials should also be on your list, and they should carry your shop's logo and contact information. These materials should include the following:

  • Gift bags
  • Ribbons
  • Pouches
  • Jewelry boxes
  • Ziplock bags

3. Tools and equipment

This category is also as important as the two. These things are essential in case of emergencies and to keep everything organized. This should include the following:

  • Inventory list to keep track of your jewelry pieces
  • Receipt book
  • Calculator
  • Extension cords in case you need to charge your phone or laptop
  • Lights
  • Cash register or a cash box
  • Scissors, cutters, and pliers
  • Sticky tape
  • Pens
  • Safety pins
  • Stapler

4. Cleaning materials

A good display is one that looks clean and uncluttered! So do not forget to bring along your cleaning tools and materials:

  • Garbage bags so your trash won't be lying around for everyone to see
  • Paper towels in case of spills
  • Microfiber or lint-free cloth for cleaning surfaces
  • Brush or feather duster
  • Hand sanitizer or alcohol for personal hygiene

  • 5. Personal items

Personal items should include stuff that you and your staff need to get through the day. Aside from food and water, you should also bring the following:

  • Extra clothes in case it gets warm
  • Sweater or hoodie in case the AC gets too cold!
  • Chairs or stools to rest those legs

5 Tips to Stand Out in a Jewelry Trade Show

Consider these things when planning to showcase your items in a trade or craft show.

Being invited to a jewelry trade show is a lot of fun! It allows you to expose your brand and showcase your products two new sets of eyes. However, you are not the only one trying to get the attention of potential customers; you are promoting your brand alongside other brands which most probably offer the same products. That said, you have to strive to stand out to catch everyone’s eye. To help you get the attention from jewelry trade show attendees, we have listed down five tips that may help you below.

Check your area.

Before setting up, you first have to check the area that was assigned to you. This will help you determine which jewelry displays you are going to use and the number as well. If your space is big enough, you can divide the area into two, one of which is a space for customers who want to try on your products and the other all for your display.

Pick the perfect display.

Now that you know how many displays you can use in your booth, it’s time to pick out the type of displays you’ll use. If you’re focusing on necklaces, be sure to have your necklace display busts ready, as well as the display stands. It would be nice to have the rotating types as well so customers can check them out easily. If you have more rings, then you can make use of creative DIY displays in combination with the ready-made ring holders.

Choose the right theme and color palette.

Your theme and color palette will depend on the styles of your jewelry pieces. If you are selling vintage-inspired designs, it’s best to go with feminine pastel colors and decors that include old photos and old books. Catch the hopeless romantics’ eye with sweet-smelling flowers and scented candles. Make it an experience your customers would remember.

Highlight your items with the perfect lighting.

Of course, you should not forget about the lighting. You may have the best-looking display but fail in attracting customers because of the lack of light. Do make sure that you highlight your best-selling products with a spotlight. Avoid creating shadows as well so do check if the lights are facing at the right angles.

Make sure your display looks clean and inviting.

Lastly, your display should look clean; otherwise, it would be appealing to trade show attendees. Watch out for fingerprints, dust, and dirt on your jewelry displays. That is why it is recommended that you bring a feather duster or a lint-free towel in case your display becomes dirty due to too much handling of the items. With a clean trade show booth, customers will see you as a professional brand worth trying.
