Keep the twins looking new with these jewelry care tips.

Earrings are probably one of the best pieces that can immediately level up one's look as they can accentuate the facial features. That said, they are an excellent investment for any woman and for any jewelry seller. However, with prolonged use, earrings can look dull and dirty. Same is the case for pairs of earrings that have been staying in the inventory for too long.

With that said, you should be able to know how to care for them to keep them looking new. Here are a few simple care tips for your earrings:

Store them properly when not in use.

Simply putting them on your dresser or vanity table raises the risk of them getting scratched, damaged, or worse, lost. Make it a point to store earrings properly, whether in a jewelry display like an earring display tree or a jewelry box. Get an organizer that has compartments or is specially made for earrings.

Watch out for light and heat.

Bright sunlight through a window

The sun can damage your earrings, especially ones that are adorned with gemstones. That said, keep your earring organizer away from the window or in any place where the sun's rays can reach. Pearl earrings can get easily bleached under prolonged exposure to light and heat, as with other crystal earrings.

Keep them away from chemicals.

Vintage spray bottles of soap and lotion and other cosmetics

As with heat, chemicals can also damage earrings. Precious metals like sterling silver and gold can discolor when they come in contact or are exposed to chemicals. Such chemicals include household cleaning solutions, lotion, hairspray, and even perfume.

Regularly clean them with care.

Dark blue, blue, and green microfiber towels on a black table

Cleaning these earrings will depend on what type of metal they are made of. However, the safest way to clean earrings is to use a lint-free cloth or microfiber towel and gently rub the surface. As for grime and stubborn dirt, look for cleaning solutions that may be used for the particular type of metal.
