How to Sell Jewelry on Instagram

Instagram is one of the best social media platforms to sell your jewelry on the internet because it is visual-heavy. And as with other platforms, there are "ready customers" on IG that are willing to buy your jewelry. So if you haven't created an Instagram page for your business, it's time you do now.

1. Create an appealing profile.

Start with your username. Make sure to use your business name as your Instagram handle to make it easy for your users to find you. Note that it can only be 1 to 30 characters long, so it should be straightforward. It should also be consistent with your other social media account usernames.

If the IG name or handle is already taken, you can come up with another by adding "official" or adding the abbreviation of your store location at the end. For example, if your brand's name is Jewelry Seller, you can go with @theofficialjewelryseller or @jewelrysellerca.

Next up is to upload a profile photo. Use your company logo for this to strengthen brand recognition. Users must be able to remember your logo so they can instantly think you of you and your jewelry when they see it.

Then, add a creative and catchy bio. Instagram allows only 150 characters for this, so be straight to the point. Let users know who you are and what you are about. Using emoticons is a good idea too!


2. Post engaging content.


What is engaging content for a jewelry business? Simple. Post beautiful professional shots of your items for sale with an equally appealing caption. But it shouldn't just be all images; you should post videos as well. Experts say that it should be a balance of the two.

Here are the visual content types that are considered engaging on Instagram:


  • Close-up shots of the pieces using a jewelry display or a clean background
  • Lifestyle shots (models or you wearing the jewelry)
  • Events like trade and craft shows
  • Product reviews
  • Promotional announcements

3. Write compelling captions.


To sell your pieces, you should be able to catch the users' attention not only through your photos or videos but also through your captions. You can do this by thinking about what your target customers want and what your brand represents. Questions like asking for their opinions is one of the ways to engage your audience. Also, do not forget to add a call-to-action.


4. Always answer queries.


Aside from engaging with your customers through compelling captions, you should also remember to answer all queries. This is either via direct messages or comments. Never ignore them. Otherwise, users will get turned off and worse, unfollow your page.


5. Connect with customers through Instagram ads.


Last, but not least, is to reach your target market through Instagram ads. Just like Facebook ads, IG ads allow you to show these ads to well-targeted demographics. Make sure to add an engaging caption with a quick call-to-action as well.
